Revelstoke Credit Union is marking the 65th Anniversary of its founding in 1953 this Saturday.
As a way of thanking the community for 65 years of support there is a free event open to everyone, taking place on Saturday featuring something interesting and entertaining for everyone.
There will be RCU popcorn, children’s activities provided by the Revelstoke Child Care Society, the Peak mobile axe throwing unit between 12:30 & 2:30PM, a bouncy slide, live music by Positive Corruption, plus complimentary food and refreshment. We will have tables and tents set up so you can relax and take some time to visit friends and meet new neighbours from the community.
On September 18, 1953 the Revelstoke and District Credit Union received their charter from the Province of BC to operate as a provincially regulated financial institution. Within year 1, assets totalled $1800 with 106 Members. Today, Revelstoke Credit Union is proud to serve 4800 Members and cares for $193 million in assets. There were 18 original signatories to the charter who came together, pooling resources, in order to provide credit and financial support for each other. The necessity that brought these pioneers together to control their own destiny still drives business today in Revelstoke, keeping profits and assets here in the community for the community.
The Revelstoke Credit Union’s 65th Anniversary Party’s Free Outdoor Celebration takes place in the parking lot and streets surrounding RCU at 110 Second St. West on Saturday, September 22.
