Revelstoke COVID-19 case number increases to 29

The number of COVID-19 cases in Revelstoke has increased to 29 as of Friday, November 27, says Interior Health.

Interior Health is reporting 29 cases of COVID-19 in Revelstoke as of Friday, November 27.

It’s an increase of seven cases in one day since Interior Health (IH) first disclosed the Revelstoke case count in Revelstoke on November 26.

IH is calling the Revelstoke cases a community cluster.

“Cases at this time have an average age in the low 30s,” IH said in response to questions from revelstokemountaineer.com “Additional cases are not unexpected as the public health investigation continues.”

The COVID-19 testing facility at Queen Victoria Hospital in Revelstoke has been busy all week, with IH providing more testing slots.

IH said it was important for local residents remains to follow all public health direction and respect public health orders currently in place.

“We need the community’s support to contain this cluster and reduce the risk of further exposures, especially for those vulnerable to more significant health impacts of COVID-19,” the health authority said in a statement.

IH said there are currently no public exposure notifications or outbreaks.

Interior Health reminded people that, “we need them to limit all non-essential travel right now. This means, sticking to your own communities, skiing at your own ski hill, only going to restaurants with your family bubble, etc.”

IH asked residents to take the following COVID-19 precautions:

  • Keep to your household bubbles and avoid social gatherings.
  • Stay home when you are sick and get tested if you have any symptoms consistent with COVID (see below).
  • Practise physical distancing and use a mask if you cannot.
  • Wash your hands often.

Testing by appointment only is available locally. Testing is not recommended for individuals who do not have symptoms.

On Friday, November 27, the provincial health officer, Dr. Bonnie Henry, reported 911 new COVID-19 cases in B.C., bringing the total to 30,884. There were 47 new cases in Interior Health.
