MVI closes Trans-Canada west of Revelstoke Tuesday evening

A winter snowstorm is blanketing the area Tuesday evening. The MVI east of Sicamous has closed the highway in both directions.

An MVI has closed the Trans-Canada Highway west of Revelstoke in both directions Tuesday evening.

The incident happened at a location five kilometres east of Sicamous.

No detour is available.

Heavy snows are buffeting the area Tuesday evening. Environment Canada has issued a winter storm warning for the Revelstoke area, predicting 30-50 centimetres of snow between Tuesday night and Wednesday night.

DriveBC is scheduled to provide an update on the incident at 11:30 p.m. Tuesday, Feb. 6. An opening time is unknown. DriveBC reports a traffic analyst is responding to the scene. This is usually a sign of a more serious incident.
