Home turf advantage helps Revelstoke Nordic skiers reach BC Cup podium

Local talent shines; encourages younger teammates to give it their all during competition.

Revelstoke skiers led the charge this weekend at the BC Cup event held at the Mt. Macpherson Nordic ski trails.

A number of local,top caliber ski racers in attendance inspired their younger teammates and encouraged them to do their best on Saturday’s classic sprint races and Sunday’s mass start free technique events. Those skiers included local members of the Junior National Ski Team Elizabeth Elliot and Beth Granstrom; BC Talent Squad’s Alexandra Luxmoore, Elliot Wilson, Nyssa Thomas and Maeve MacLeod, and; BC Development Squad members Jaclyn Elliot, Nelson Luxmoore, Emily MacLeod, Erik Brosch and Kolibri Drobish.

The next BC Cup is the BC Championships held at Larch Hills, Salmon Arm, on March 1–3. The next race for older skiers will be the Western Canadian Championships at Telemark Nordic in Kelowna on February 8-10, and for midgets Skiers aged 9-12, the Midget Championships at Sovereign Lake Nordic Centre in Vernon, BC on February 16-17. Juvenile and older skiers have set their season goal to peak at the National Ski Championships that will be held in mid-March in Gatineau, Quebec.
