In 2004 after several years as a tree planter, hobo, roughneck, and solo artist, Pernell founded The Pernell Reichert Band. In 2005 they were ready to set out on their debut month-long tour of western Canada toting Pernell’s solo albums yet playing new songs written specifically for the three-piece ensemble. In 2007 The Pernell Reichert Band embarked on several five-day tours slowly breaking into the Canadian touring circuit.
2008 was a mile-stone year for The Pernell Reichert Band, as they finally released their first self-titled album early in the spring followed by a tour of western Canada that took them from Vancouver to Winnipeg and back in 39 days. Pernell spent most of the summer of 2008 on the road touring solo playing from the Kootenays of BC to southern Ontario. Late 2008 The Pernell Reichert Band went international with a 10-day tour of South Africa which resulted in a live recording later included on their 2011 EP. Upon their return to BC the band spent a good part of 2009 and 2010 off the road and in the studio, recording the much-anticipated second album. The album Highway of Tears was released in 2011 at which time the band set out on the road again connecting the dots between big city performances in Winnipeg, Saskatoon, and Calgary and smaller town shows in places like Nanton, AB and Sirdar, BC.
2012 saw the band breaking into the western Canadian festival circuit, which included The Edge of the World Festival in Haida Gwaii, Calgary’s famous Lilac Festival, and Vancouver’s Khatsahlano Music + Arts Fest.
In 2013 the band secured spots at the famous Artswells Festival in beautiful Wells, BC playing along side acts such as CR Avery and Shred Kelly; The Lytton River Festival; and the Rock Creek Fall Fair sharing the bill with Tim Hus and Fred Penner. 2013 also saw the addition of a fourth member of the band, Mr. Cory Hawthorne on lead guitar.
