A couple from Stanford, California decided to show their love of Revelstoke by naming their daughter in honour of the city.

Revy Elle Atashroo was born on November 27 to first-time parents David and Megan.

David and Megan are avid skiers who enjoy traveling to Canada for ski vacations. They ventured out to Revelstoke for the first time last year, and David said this is when everything changed.

“Revelstoke Mountain is unlike any other place on earth. It imbued that inescapable feeling, that teetering between irrepressible excitement and heart pounding fear, that draws all of us to steep lines and fresh tracks. We were left wonderstruck by the beauty hiding in plain sight. In a word: Revelstoke is magical,” David said.

David said when it came time to choose a name for their daughter the couple new only one name would do.

“You see we wanted this little girl to grow up knowing that she was fierce, and courageous, and beautiful … the mountains make us feel this way, and Revelstoke most of all,” said David.

Revy was small at birth weighing only five pounds, eight ounces but long and lean at 19.5 inches.

“Revelstoke didn’t start the biggest mountain, but it’s bold, beloved by those who know it well, and brimming with potential. We know it has a bright future ahead. As a proud father, I wanted to let you know what your mountain has meant to our family. I also wanted to give a special gift to Revy.”
