Kristie is a Physio + Yoga Therapist with a special interest in pelvic health and pain science. Come spend the afternoon learning, breathing, exercising (gently) and creating a safe, supportive space to ask questions and discuss all things pelvic health related.

Ladies, it’s time to take charge of our health! There are so many things we haven’t been taught, don’t know, or wonder about. Gain the knowledge and support to give your body what it needs in any stage of life. Whether you are in your 20’s, 40’s, 60’s or beyond, it’s never too late! In this workshop Kristie will help you:
Gain the knowledge and support you need to give your body what it needs and take positive action steps at any stage in life.

Make movement feel good again; regain mobility and strength and move with more ease. Improve your deep core muscle system. If you have back pain, hip pain, pelvic pain, a weak core, or you avoid movement because of bladder or bowel issues – this is the class for you!

Make calm your new normal; reverse the effects of stress in your life. Move towards a mind that is quiet and clear. Understand your nervous system and how stress plays a role in your pelvic health. Learn the importance of breathing properly and reduce tension – Kristie will tell you in this workshop!! Hint: It plays a big role. Let’s chill out!

Kristie is also happy to discuss and answer questions (as best she can) related to pelvic health. Peeing, pooping, sex, pregnancy, post-partum, pain, tension, weakness, prolapse, kegels…it’s all fair game!

Acro Yoga: The Art of Flight @ Balu Yoga & Wellness

Come explore the fundamentals of Acro Yoga and learn how it can expand your yoga practice in a fun meaningful way. Working with others you will learn common poses, basic flows and some Thai massage.

This workshop is for all levels and abilities.
NO PARTNER REQUIRED, just a willingness to have fun with others in the yoga community.

Bios:
Luc – Luc is an avid student of many modalities of yoga and a student first, teacher second. In addition to being a certified yoga teacher who teaches ‘regular’ yoga, Luc is an acro yoga instructor and has been teaching acro yoga for over 4 years. Based near Calgary, Luc travels around BC and Alberta offering Acro Yoga workshops for new/novice students as a way of building the greater community. He welcomes all ages, shapes and skill levels to attend his acro yoga workshops.

Val – Valari’s Acro Yoga journey began at Firefly Theatre, an aerial arts gym, where she was studying circus arts such as silks and trapeze. An Acro Yoga workshop was hosted there and she took part and was instantly hooked! As an RMT, comfortable with touch, and an enthusiastic student of all things circus, it was a good fit.

She went on to complete her certification in the month long Acro Yoga Montreal teacher training in July 2013 and the VanCity teacher training in May 2017.

Val has been helping herself and others through the blessing of touch with Massage Therapy since 2002, Thai massage since 2013, and lately expanded her practice through a mentorship in Rolfing. She participated in the Divine Play festival 2017, training with Jason Nemer. She has taught at festivals such as Unity Festival in Enderby, BC in 2016, and is currently expanding the Acro Yoga community with workshop tours throughout the interior, leading into other major festivals across the country.

Valari is known to teach on a solo basis, opening the practice up and demonstrating the ability to engage Acro Yoga as an individual unto the group without relying on the vehicle of partnership. She encourages all her students to develop their personal commitment to practice and build strength in order to find themselves in healthy partnerships when the opportunities arise.

The Essential Breath Workshop @ Balu Yoga & Wellness

Did you know that breathing impacts your whole body? It affects not only the lungs and the heart, but also the digestive system and muscles. It has an influence on how you sleep, your energy levels, and your ability to concentrate and relax.

When we are able to improve and refine our breathing, we will feel the positive effects throughout our whole being!
If you have chronic pain, anxiety, digestive issues or difficulty breathing, join Kerri for this mini-workshop on breath!

We will open the body with slow and supported movement, allowing it to breathe more freely. Using gentle and guided inquiries, we will explore our breath and learn techniques for proper and effective breathing with plenty of time to relax and unwind.

No experience is necessary!

Kerri’s Bio:
Kerri teaches classes which help the student create a sense of balance between body, mind and spirit.
Learning to cultivate a sense of self awareness and gratitude on your mat, one can begin to integrate these principles into everyday life. Her classes will help you find strength and stability, while allowing time to relax and unwind. Encouragement to maintain a slow and steady breath combined with a playful approach will help one to practice with ease.
Kerri is a graduate of the 200 hour Yoga Teacher Training from Shanti Yoga in Nelson, BC, which focused on alignment and breath. She is also a Level 1 Bradcliff Practitioner, offering one-on-one breath coaching sessions. Kerri is a proud member of the Nourish Clinic team, providing massage and reflexology sessions to her community of Golden.

Qigong Workshop: Healing With Sound @ Balu Yoga & Wellness

Experience the next level of healing by adding the wisdom of sound to Qigong. The core elements of Qigong are: Breath, Visualization, Movement and Sound. In this workshop we will explore the sound aspect by way of chanting.

Strengthen your aura and induce healing through chanting. Different sounds and tones produce vibrations that resonate with the different organ systems. Come out to learn and experience the specific chants that work for your own body!

This afternoon workshop will also include a qigong practice and meditation so that you walk away feeling refreshed and energized.

Beginners to experienced welcome to join! The Qigong practice can be done seated, standing or lying down, accessible to everyone.

Randa’s journey to holistic health and wellness began over 20 years ago, through yoga and meditation.
