Power has been restored in Revelstoke including the downtown area at around 6:45 p.m., approximately.

BC Hydro now lists no power outages in the Revelstoke area.

Original Story:

A power outage is affecting about 5,300 customers in the Revelstoke area on Sunday, July 18.

The power went out at about 4:20 p.m.

BC Hydro says the outage is due to a “transmission circuit failure.”

A BC Hydro power outage map shows electricity is down in Revelstoke on the east side of the Columbia River and along the Trans-Canada Highway corridor.

Currently, there is no ETA on power restoration.

The outage has also dramatically slowed Internet speeds.

BC Hydro had warned B.C. residents to be prepared for wildfire-related outages, but it’s unclear what the cause of this outage is now.
