Nakusp RCMP don’t currently have an update on the search for missing man Jared Szabo. Nobody was available at the Nakusp RCMP detachment to take calls on Monday. A central dispatcher said that the RCMP would be releasing a statement, but she couldn’t put a time on when that would be available.
Update, Saturday, Aug. 5, 1:20 p.m.
Nakusp RCMP Constable Lee Bellamy told the Mountaineer that the search for Szabo continues in the Beaton area today, with searchers focusing on a river and the lake in the area.
Bellamy said he was leaving to work in the area today, but didn’t have updated information other than the search was focusing on waterways and ongoing on Saturday.

Nakusp RCMP were not immediately available for comment Saturday morning. A dispatcher took our call and said someone from the RCMP would return our call today.

Nakusp RCMP and Arrow Lakes Search & Rescue are in the Beaton area looking for missing Revelstoke man Jared Szabo.
The Revelstoke man was last seen on Tuesday, August 1 in the Beaton area.
A Nakusp RCMP receptionist didn’t have much information about the incident, such as a media release, and said someone would call back later in the day.
She did confirm that RCMP and Arrow Lakes Search & Rescue were in the Beaton area on Friday morning conducting a search.
Friends of Szabo are asking anyone with information to contact authorities. They are also on the lookout for his white pickup truck pictured below.
Beaton is located on the east side of the Upper Arrow Lake ferry, just north of Galena Bay. It is near the community of Trout Lake.
