Danish skier dies after medical incident at RMR

Skier was found unconscious, in cardiac arrest under Revelation Gondola.

Revelstoke RCMP say a male skier who passed away after being found unconscious at Revelstoke Mountain Resort earlier this week was from Denmark.

Revelstoke Mountain Resort Ski Patrol notified the Revelstoke RCMP on Monday, Feb. 18 of a medical incident requiring police and possibly search and rescue to help with a patient suffering from cardiac arrest.

In a media statement, Revelstoke RCMP said RMR ski patrol responded to an injured skier underneath the Revelation Gondola. A male skier was found unconscious on the side of the slope. RMR ski patrol were first on scene and performed first aid. Police said that other emergency services personnel then took over care of the male. The man was pronounced deceased after being transported to the hospital.

Revelstoke RCMP have contacted the individual’s family.

There is no foul play suspected. The investigation has been turned over to the BC Coroners Service.
