In a Monday media release, Revelstoke RCMP said a dozen post boxes were broken into at the main post office downtown between Sunday night and Monday morning. Here’s the media release from the RCMP.
Between 8 am and 8 pm on Sunday July 30th, 2017 an unknown person(s) entered the Revelstoke Canada Post Office located at Third Street and Campbell Avenue, and pried open and made entry to 12 mail boxes. The culprits obtained the personal mail of several of those boxes.
The Revelstoke RCMP are currently investigating this incident and are seeking assistance from the public if they observed any suspicious activity at the post office on Sunday.
Further the RCMP is advising persons who may have had their mail removed to be diligent regarding identity theft. Pay extra attention to your credit card, utility and other bills for unusual transactions. If you were expecting to receive some specific mail such as a new credit card or gift card, ensure to advise the sender.
The public is reminded to call either 911 if an event is occurring or the non-emergency number 250.837.5255 if they observe any suspicious activity.
